WHERE IS YOUR IDEAL HOLIDAY DESTINATION

I have just got to hear the word Argentina and the passion of the tango stirs my hormones. But a pilgrimage across the Pyrenees and meeting at the Monastery of Roncesvalles in the far north of Spain would also do it for me. So whether it is the grand tour, the hippie trail, discovering the last frontiers or bundu bashing, there is a whole world out there.

The grand tour could take you to all the places visited by the hero in his novel “The Da Vinci Code”. The Knights Templar in Fleet Street, the Saint-Sulpice Church in Paris a 17th century church which contains the largest organ in the world, Westminister Abbey, The Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh Scotland the focus of esoteric religious groups, the Louvre Inverted Pyramid Museum in Paris, Chateau Villette – the home of eccentric art historian Sir Leigh Teabing in Paris, The
Ritz Hotel Paris, and the National Gallery.

As for the last frontiers, North Korea including Paekdu Secret Camps from where the army was based. Although only recently founded, South Sudan falls into this category of politically and economically troubled parts of Africa.

Bundu bashing has always been a favourite pastime in South Africa but you can get a whole lot of this excitement abroad as well. For instance Northern Columbia where it melts into the Darian jungle of Panama. Attempts at crossing the Darien Gap on foot have had life-changing effects; but with the recent calming in Columbia – 2012 should be the year for visiting this corer of the world.

Learning new skills like a painting trip to Kathmandu, Havana or Icatha and pitching your easel amid pueblos blancos for a week; or warrior training in Mongolia where you can learn how to make a bow and arrow and other interesting battle tactics as used by Ghengis Khan.

So who said you have to do the usual down-to-the-coast thing when so much else is at your disposal in the way of interesting holidays.

Buying Books that best suits your needs

We all know that it is a socially acceptable behavior for everyone of us to have their very type of book genres that fully contents their reading horizons without the forgetting the thought of enhancing that much needed knowledge you get after reading the book. And you tell me about yours! Because in every 3 individuals that can be interviewed with regards to what kinds of book they prefer on to say they all love the same genre of book like novel since all of them will shed their preferences distinctively. The first one will go for literature, whereas the other one will opt for novel which the last one without the shadow of doubt will go for biographies. Methinks with that varied preferences of book genres that definitely shows how distinctive we are and do find solace in the one you have chosen and works for you since the one you have chosen clearly defines you and won’t work for the other individual. Granted they are books at the end of the day, but if it had to be defined what it is would simply be that it is books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work.

In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals as such magazines, journals or newspapers. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (for example, biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, and so on). A lover of books is usually referred to as a bibliophile, a philologist, or, more informally, a bookworm.

So whatever way we ought to perceive how we call it all boils down to one thing at the end of the day which is a book in generic terms, and waste no further time to have your ideal kind of book that will give you pleasure of mind to bits.

There are some great Cape Town hotels to stay at along the coastline, but if you want to be right at the beach with no other building between you and the surf, then you might have to look a lot longer and harder than you might have anticipated. Many a time pictures and hotel agencies can be deceiving in giving you a beachfront hotel.

If you enjoy self-catering, or if you like to get out and about when it’s time for breakfast, lunch or dinner, then renting a beachhouse is one route to go – and there are also some great self-catering apartments to choose from, such as those alongside the On the Rocks restaurant, Bloubergstrand.

Actually, it’s at Bloubergstrand north of Cape Town’s harbour that you’ll find one of the few Cape Town hotels on the beachfront. The Dolphin Beach Hotel is a matter of steps away from the sea sand – a few dunes are all that separate the hotel and the Cabanas from the surf. The restaurant (Blowfish) is pretty good too, and the view of Table Mountain from across Table Bay is spectacular.

A bit closer to the mountain is the Lagoon Beach Hotel & Apartments, 2km from the Milnerton Golf Course and 5km from the huge Canal Walk shopping complex.

The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay is casually sophisticated, well-appointed and being no more than 100 metres from the beach, it spills onto one of the city’s most popular strips of restaurants, street cafés and bars. Just up the road, The Place on the Bay is just as trendy.

And for somewhere luxurious and intimate to stay just a stone’s throw from the sea and sand, is The Last Word, an upmarket hotel overlooking Long Beach in Kommetjie. One of the most decadent, glorious Cape Town hotels for sure!

Smorgasbord! Yes, this is a must see in Sweden. It is a traditional way to make open faced sandwiches that raises the bar as to what you think a sandwich should look or taste like. But more than sandwiches, this is Sweden’s ultimate buffet, usually a long table filled with appetizers, fish dishes, and desserts as well. Smorgasbord is one of the first meals most visitors to Sweden look for.

Djurgarden. Located in Stockholm, Djurgarden island is walkable and has a beautiful park, cultural center, a theme park called Grona Lund, and an open air museum called Skansen. Within steps you can also visit the famous Rosendal Palace and gardens.

Islands of the Southern Goteborg Archipelago. You can reach these beautiful islands with their deserted beaches and picturesque lighthouses by a series of affordable ferries, which gives you a lovely way to get out on the water.

Ice Hotel. The Ice Hotel is the world’s largest hotel made entirely of ice which you can actually stay in and also hop on their nightly bus for an up-close look at the spectacular northern lights.

The Lapland. In the summer, you have daylight round the clock. A tour here gives you the opportunity to engage in the beautiful outdoors and to learn about the Sami culture. In the winter, a visit to Lapland offers the opportunity for sledding and skiing and watching the Aurora Borealis.

Midsummer’s Eve. The Midsummer’s Eve festival held in Stockholm in June will enchant you. Houses there are decked with flowers inside and out, huge bonfires are lit, and restaurants serve traditional festival food of smoked fish and herring.

Shopping for Swedish Design. If you are in Stockholm, you will want to visit some of the big Swedish design stores like Modernity, Designtorget, and Konsthantverkana amongst many others. For traditional Swedish glass, travel to what is called “Crystal Kingdom” where you can visit Kosta Boda, Orrefors, and other major crystal artists and factories.

Liseberg Park. A huge amusement park for the whole family, Liseberg is situated in the town of Gothenburg. There are over 30 fast rides, food, and hotels right on the property.

Moderna Museet. This is the modern art museum located on the island of Skeppsholmen, which you reach by crossing a bridge from Stockholm. Picasso, Matisse, and a wide range of Sweden’s best modern artists are displayed there.

Stockholm. While in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, take an afternoon stroll through Gamia Stan for its quaint atmosphere and lovely shops, visit the Vasa Museum, Stockholm Cathedral and the Royal Palace. Stockholms many islands make this northern city a delight to visit.

For the ultimate in relaxation holidays, why not consider a retreat?

What is a retreat? – To retreat means to withdraw and that is what a retreat “holiday” is – a chance to withdraw from the world for a while. Often associated with religion, or at least spirituality, retreats have in common a chance to be in a peaceful, non-judgemental, welcoming environment. However, not all retreats are connected to a particular religion, and many will offer you the opportunity to spend quiet time in meditation and activities that you feel are right for your circumstances and beliefs. The main benefit of a retreat is to take the opportunity to have real quality time to yourself, to reflect and think. People often leave retreats feeling refreshed, energised and more creative.

Religious retreats – Retreats have long been very popular in the Catholic Church, and give people the chance to reflect and pray. Although you do not need to be a churchgoer to attend a Catholic retreat, many attendees are. Other Christian denominations also run retreats that are based on study, reflection and prayer. There are not usually services or teaching involved but sometimes there can be so if this is something you particularly want then it is best to check the details carefully before you book. Retreats are also popular with other religions, particularly Buddhism. But what all religious retreats have in common is the opportunity to spend time in relaxing, often simple surroundings, usually in beautiful, inspiring settings. Other activities may be available during a religious retreat, including meditation, yoga, walking, or painting.

Non-religious retreats – Non-religious retreats are becoming increasingly popular as more people want to escape the stresses of modern life for a few days. Retreats involving gentle exercise and relaxation sessions do not have to be spiritual in any way. However, many retreats address the need for spiritual health and also offer meditation sessions. Creative and artistic retreats are also popular. If you are a writer or an artist it is sometimes difficult to find a time and space to be creative and work. On an art or writing retreat you will find quiet accommodation, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. You may also find workshops and literature to inspire you.

Location – Whichever kind of retreat you are considering, you also need to consider location. From the islands of Scotland to India, retreats are available in every kind of climate and landscape. So whether you are inspired by the sea, countryside or tropical weather you will be able to find the perfect location. Any retreat should leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed, so if you are experiencing the stresses of modern life and need to escape, it might be worth getting onto the internet and doing some research now to find the perfect solution.

From trips of a few days to ones lasting three weeks or more, there are a wealth of coach tours of Europe available. The TV programme, “Coach Trip” has made the idea of a coach tour of Europe more appealing to a wider range of holidaymakers, and has shown a new audience some of the activities available.

Touring Europe by coach is somewhat different from a smaller coach tour in the UK. In the UK, you will usually be based in one hotel and go on day trips or excursions from there. On a European trip you will normally stay in each city for only one night, have a guided tour and some free time, and then move onto the next city.

Most people won’t have time to go on a full tour of Europe, so here are some suggested regions to tour.

Russia – Not on everyone’s “want to visit” list, but certainly an amazing experience. The two main cities on a Russian coach tour are Moscow and St Petersburg, cities with very different atmospheres. Moscow feels busier, but the moment you walk into Red Square and see St Basils Cathedral you forget that you are in a busy capital city. There are so many sights to see in Moscow that your time there will probably be too short. The same goes for St Petersburg which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A visit to the Hermitage museum alone could take you several days if you want to see everything so you won’t be short of things to do.

Eastern Europe – A coach tour of Russia will probably include stops en route. These are likely to include either Warsaw or Krakow in Poland. They are both cities with fascinating history but very different from each other, and both certainly worth seeing.

Other eastern European destinations that often feature on coach tour itineraries are Ukraine – where you can visit the wonderful city of Kiev or the Crimean resort of Odessa; the Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia), and the Czech republic and Slovakia which have some amazing countryside and great cities.

World War 1 and 2 tours – Extremely popular, these tours will usually cover northern France, and Belgium. They may visit famous battlefields, such as Ypres or the Somme. They could also include visits to the Normandy beaches where the D-Day landings took place.

Of course these aren’t the only coach trips available, and even a cursory look at a brochure or website will show you that there are literally hundreds of tours to choose from. The best thing is to narrow down a region you want to visit and start from there.

Basically Vitamins is a group of fat-soluble secosteroids that is
ideally needed in every human body, and by me when I mention
Vitamin D is unique both because it functions as a prohormone and
because when sun exposure is adequate the body can synthesize it (as

Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest city and the beating heart of the country. A lot of people use it as a base to go on to other places in South Africa but there is a lot to see and do within the city itself, from kicking back in some of the laid back and eclectic bars to dining at some fantastic restaurants. In addition there are a number of places to visit that you should not miss. Here we will list five of them:

(1) A Trip to Soweto

Though it still suffers from massive unemployment, South Africa’s famous township has seen an incredible turnaround in recent years, welcoming tourists who have heard so much about the place and the 2 million residents. In addition the growing middle classes are opting to stay there and extend their homes rather than move elsewhere. Tours will take you around the township pointing out both the sadly squalid shacks and the increasing plots of modern, well built housing as well as taking you to some of the places that have become so famous over the years. One stop on every tour is the Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum, which tells the story of the sad death of Hector Pieterson and the history of the resistance in the township.

(2) The Museum of Apartheid

Like the tour of Soweto, a visit to the Museum of Apartheid can often be a bit harrowing, but it is worth seeing nonetheless. The museum details the nation’s journey through segregation, beginning with the first gold mines, all the way through to the nation after apartheid. The museum is very well laid out and a worthy educational tour stop.

(3) Kick Back in Melville

If you feel you’ve had enough history and sad stories, why not head to a district of Johannesburg that offers a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere, with a good selection of nightlife, a pleasant multicultural vibe and a great energy. Chilled cocktail bars sit next to lovely old antique bookshops and cool vintage clothing shops, with restaurants from all over the world lining the streets. It is packed with young students and well-heeled bohemian types and it is a great spot to head for a night out.

(4) Constitution Hill

Built as a symbol of hope triumphing over oppression the new Constitutional Court was built on the remnants of the old (and somewhat notorious) jail. The old fort used to be used for white prisoners only, but it was the block next door, known as Number Four that was notorious, housing political prisoners such as Mohandas Gandhi.

(5) Origins Centre

The Origins Centre is a fascinating museum documenting the history of humanity. Located in downtown Johannesburg as a part of the Witwatersrand University the center takes visitors through 200,000 years of history using fossils and studies of tribes such as the San (or Bushmen) who lived in the north of South Africa and in the Kalahari desert regions of Botswana.

After several months or even years of busy work schedules, we all deserve some time to relax and spend quality time with our loved ones. However, not everyone can afford to blow the bank on their annual holiday and there are tens of thousands of people who simply can’t afford to pay for luxury hotels in Bora-Bora or Fiji. If you’re planning a holiday on a budget, here are a few tips to help you out:

1. Plan ahead.

It makes no sense to just pick a random place, pack up and fly there. You need to plan everything in detail; starting from the destination itself and whether it is good value, to how you are planning to get there, where you will be staying, how long for and what activities you want to do there. It is important to put all these on a list and discuss them with your partner or family. This way, you get to talk about your options and plan your budget.

2. Formulate a budget and stick with it.

Regardless of how well off you are, if you don’t stick to a budget, you’ll come home out of pocket. Have a budget for everything necessary to your trip. How much are you willing to spend on airfare? How about on your accommodation and dining expenses? You need to set a budget for all of these. Also, make sure that you write a realistic budget.

3. Travel by car if possible.

If you’re not planning to go overseas during your vacation then maybe it’s better to take the car and go on a road trip with your partner or family. It’s way cheaper than booking an air fare. This is also a good way to bond with the family throughout the trip. Furthermore, you get to enjoy the sites from the ground.

4. Be on the lookout for flight discounts and other special offers.

If, on the other hand, you are planning to fly off somewhere then check the Net for flight discounts or special offers going to your desired destination. If you’ll be traveling on weekdays, the rates are significantly lower. This is also true if you are going to be traveling during the off season.

5. Instead of booking into 5-star hotel, try booking into a 3-star hotel or a B&B.

The reason you go on holiday is to relax and enjoy places like the beach or the mountains. If you’re going to be spending most of the time away from your hotel room then you don’t need to be fussy about what’s inside your room.
